How will Pensions Archive material be collected?
The Pensions Archive collections it is planned to place at the LMA are those of The National Association of Pension Funds, the late George Ross Goobey and of a number of other pension professionals.
Archival documentation is also promised from the Pensions Research Accountants Group (PRAG). In addition, it is hoped that other collections will be offered by pension professionals and organisations.
While the bulk of the Pensions Archive material will be placed with the LMA, it is envisaged that copies of some of the most important documentation will also be located in the library of the Cass Business School of the City University, with which the Trust has close links.
The basis on which materials are placed with the Pensions Archive will be for consideration on a case by case basis: they may be donated to the Trust and/or to the LMA, or placed with the Archive on long term loan. Because of the volume of material potentially available to the Archive, it will be necessary to operate a screening process at the point of offer, so as to ensure that the documentation held will be of real value to prospective users.

Material collected for the Archive will often merit retention in its original form because of historic value and interest, but hard copy access alone would seriously limit its value to the many categories of user, both throughout the UK and further afield. So, conversion into electronic format, accessible through a suitably formatted website, is seen as a key priority.
